The very famous Finnish company Marimekko was founded in 1951. They started by commissioning young artists to design entirely new, boldly coloured and patterned fabrics. Today, their brave and extravagent use of colour remains something that sets them apart from others. While they do produce new designs, their older designs are still fantastic years on. For example, Maiji Isola designed for Marimekko from the very beginning until 1987 and her Unikko design from 1964 remains one of their most popular designs today.
We have a selection of Marimekko fabrics available immediately - and all other designs and colourways are available on request. Please note that the minimum and increment quantities of Marimekko fabrics vary based on the size of the pattern so that we don't cut through the middle of a design. For this reason, we are also unable to send you a sample of some of these designs.
Marimekko fabrics are printed using large screens which do sometimes leave marks on the fabric. This is not a flaw, just an inherent part of the way in which the fabric is printed, and part of their appeal.
