Red has strong symbolism and associations across many cultures. In ours, it is intrinsically linked with love, desire, danger.... In India and China it is for weddings, France and Russia for Revolutions, Amsterdam is famous for its Red Light District. Red has the longest wavelength in the spectrum meaning it can be seen from a long way off - making it perfect for attracting attention and warning of danger.
Red can be used as a vibrant accent or en masse - it is an amazing colour in a candle lit room, looks fresh and calm when offset with white, looks softer with neutrals and brighter with greens. In other words, you can put it with whatever you think looks good!
