Motivated by a love of fabric and design, we make it fun and easy to choose beautiful things for your home.

What We Do:

We stock bold and beautiful Fabrics from top designers in New Zealand, Australia and abroad – almost all of which are available immediately

We help you to measure windows for Curtain and Blinds, give you free quotes and professionally sew your curtains and blinds in our Christchurch Workroom - in just 10-20 working days.

We create our own range of striking New Zealand made Cushions, Wallhangings, Lampshades, Door stoppers, Aprons, Draft snakes and more and stock selected ranges from other designers.

We Track down new and exciting designs in Home Furnishings such as shower curtains and wallpaper.

And we also Make to Order, so we can custom make your perfect Squabs, Cushions, Lampshades, Bean bags, Duvet cover etc in the fabric of your choice, if you can’t find what you want already made.

 

Who We Are:

Bolt of Cloth was set up by me, Suzannah Tonascia in 2009. Returning to live in Christchurch after more than a decade overseas (having lived in Sydney, London and Zurich) I was surprised by how hard it was to buy contemporary fabrics and furnishings here, especially those from our own talented Kiwi designers. The traditional aesthetic was well catered for, but if that wasn’t what you were looking for it was harder to know where to shop.

I also wanted to make it unintimidating and fun to get things done for your home, whatever your budget.

I have been really lucky and have a great team of people supporting me. Our team has a wide range of skills and experiences and professional qualifications include fine arts, textile design, interior design, marketing and more. But most importantly, from all of our team whether you are shopping online or in person, you will get friendly service, a great eye for colour and the desire to help you find the perfect solution for your needs.

How We Do Business:

We are passionate about supporting small and new designers – especially  those from down under. You will always find new products & we always credit designers for their work. 

We are so sure you will love our fabrics and furnishing products that you can return them within 2 weeks for a full refund if for any reason you are not happy with them (this does not apply for made to order items).

We are transparent with all our pricing information. When we send you a quote we will detail how the costs are made up (fabric, making etc), and have no mysterious heading fees or hidden charges (which unfortunately are common within the industry).

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to shop online – so offer free samples, free and fast quotes and design advice and a quick turnaround. We also accept phone orders and mail orders in addition to online and instore orders.

We are nice to deal with – and seem to attract customers who are too!

Our key Tips for making your online shopping successful:

Look at the pictures – click the full length drop view for those that grab your attention to get a feel for the size of the pattern

Request a free sample – they are only small but help with colour matching and you can see if the weight of the fabric suits your needs. Email us at info@boltofcloth.com for samples

Tell us what you are wanting the fabric for – we can then tell you if it will be suitable for that purpose and if not, suggest others that could work. We will also give you any tips or traps with specific fabrics – like tricky pattern repeats.

Email us pictures of your home, bach, caravan etc so we can see what you are up to and offer ideas. In store customers tend to bring in pictures snapped on their mobiles – and as they say “a picture paints a 1000 words”!
